With the majority of the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) set to start in 2014, employers are starting to tackle some big questions . Should you continue to offer health care benefits? If you don't, what are the penalties? What do you have to do to comply with the health care reform law? The list goes on and on.

United Benefit Advisors understands PPACA and is offering free tools to help employers with health care reform compliance concerns. The PPACA Decisions Executive Summary, part of UBA's PPACA Advisor series, offers a "50,000-foot view" of PPACA compliance, which includes an overview, a list of changes employers should already be making and obligations employers must fulfill between now and 2014.

It's important to keep in mind that PPACA has different provisions depending on the size of your business. UBA Member Firms offer additional in-depth decision support guides tailored for small businesses (under 50 employees), midsize businesses (50-100 employees) and large employers (more than 100 employees). The guides significantly expand on information presented in the UBA PPACA Decisions Executive Summary, providing the most comprehensive PPACA compliance support. As the November election nears, health care reform's Patient Protection and Affordable Care (PPACA) may appear to be in political limbo and not an immediate concern for companies.

The reality, however, is that PPACA is already affecting employers, and companies need to start making decisions on employee benefits now to be in compliance by 2014. Even if Gov. Romney wins the election, repeal may not happen quickly, or at all, especially if the Senate remains controlled by Democrats.

There's no need for employers to feel like they are in the dark when it comes to PPACA compliance, especially when there are complimentary tools and resources available. Be sure to download UBA's PPACA Decisions Executive Summary, along with applicable Expanded Decision Support Guides, depending on the number of employees in your organization.
